Introducing the Active-Pro Firmware Debugger and Logic Analyzer- A Viewport into Every Microprocessor, Bus and Signal in Your Design

Summary – Active Firmware Tools just released the Active-Pro Firmware Debugger and Logic Analyzer, a device used by firmware developers to visualize every part of an embedded design and quickly find and fix hardware and firmware bugs.

February 24, 2023 - Active Firmware Tools announces the release of their new Active-Pro Firmware Debugger and Logic Analyzer, a tool for analyzing modern embedded firmware systems and gives clear, concise insight into a designs operation so firmware developers can reproduce, investigate, debug and find and fix bugs quickly. It captures and displays real-time traces on a single synchronized viewport containing debug output from up to four microprocessors, logic analyzer digital signals, oscilloscope analog channels, current measurements, and packet level decodes of hardware decoded communication bus traffic.

The Active-Pro captures detailed debug information about the execution of firmware, including the graphed values of variables and the exact timings of debug messages as they are executed. Combining these debug traces with synchronized traces of logic signals, analog channels, current real-time measurements, and serial bus decodes helps embedded developers understand how the firmware is behaving and identify the root cause of even the most complex issues. This single unified display of all debug data and signals leads to a better understanding of firmware and hardware behavior and how it interacts with other components in the system and presents the complete information necessary to quickly reproduce and fix system level bugs.
